The enormous, slightly cupped leaf of this cultivar remains dark green for most of its life, but, in fall, the sturdy hold of the petiole (leaf stem) keeps the leaves, now bedecked in reds and yellows, attached to the tree, and thus a bright spot in the growing gloom of the fall landscape.
